Palo Pinto Mountains State Park

Palo Pinto, TX

Once a privately-owned ranch, this undeveloped land in Palo Pinto and Stephens counties was purchased in 2011 by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, establishing Palo Pinto Mountains State Park.  In 2019, the TPWD began developing the Park for use by the general public.   Ongoing improvements include a 4,600-SF Visitor Center, 15,500-SF Maintenance Compound, 13,700-SF open air pavilion, 3,000-SF bath house, the Equestrian Trailhead Bath House and a day-use playground.  The project has required coordination between several state agencies including TPWD Parks Division, TPWD Infrastructure Division and the Texas Department of Transportation.  Completion is anticipated at the end of 2023.
